“The Lord is my rock, my protection, my Savior. My God is my rock. I can run to him for safety. He is my shield and my saving strength, my defender.” -Psalms 18:2 NCV
Hello! I’m so happy you are here.
What’s your story? What are your goals? What are your plans for the future? But most importantly, who are you?
Who do you want to be?
Sometimes we focus on all the bad things or what people tell us we are; we forget to ask ourselves who we are or seek to find the truth in who we are.
I believe we can find the truth in the word of God. When we know who God is, we can know ourselves.
God has many names, so many I am still learning and exploring. God is our Father, our creator. He made everything and designed it for a purpose.
He is our provider. Our advocate. Our redeemer. Our savior. Our hope. Our firm foundation. And so much more!
Today I want to talk about how He is our rock! In Matthew 7, it talks about what foundation to build your house on. It shares how two different men built their houses and what happened when a storm came. One built their house on rock and when the winds and rain came, it did not fall. The other man built his house on sand and when the winds and rain came, it collapsed. In the New International Version (NIV), it says “…it fell with a great crash” (Matt.7:27).
For so long I was the man who built his house on the sand. I was an athlete until I tore a ligament in my knee. I was a good daughter until I failed, a lot. I was a good friend until I was tired of no one being there for me. I was, I was, I was. It got very exhausting quickly and I don’t want this for you. I want you to know who you are so when life throws stresses and struggles at you, you will still stand firm and your house won’t fall over.
God is our Rock. He is our firm foundation, which is the truth we should build our house on.
I challenge you to find the truth, find God, and answer the question from the beginning, “who are you?”
One place to start is to go to Scripture, the Bible. The word of God tells us who we are in Jesus.
At You Are Known, we strive to weave God’s truth into everything we do. Our mission statement is "to remind others--to know in their heart, mind and soul--that they are fully seen, always heard, deeply loved, and completely known by the Heavenly Father.”
This is a part of who you are.
You are seen. (Psalm 139, Genesis 16:13)
You are heard. (Psalm 18:6, 1 John 5:14)
You are loved. (Romans 5:8)
You are known. (1 Corinthians 13:12)
Hang these phrases up where you will see them daily. A wallpaper on your phone, a sticky note in your office or write it on your bathroom mirror with dry erase markers.
To learn more about the truth above, dive deeper into the Scriptures and see what they say!
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for who you are as our rock, our firm foundation. I pray those reading this will find your truth and know who they are in you. Lead them to uncover the lies they are believing and lead them to your words- the truth.
In your name,
Amen!
